The Alex C. Walker Educational and Charitable Foundation was formed in 1968 as a charitable trust under Pennsylvania law.

During 2009, the Foundation made 17 grants totaling $354,000. Grants ranged in size from $3,000 to $30,000. On December 31, 2008 the asset value increased to $7,306,995.

For comparison, grant totals are listed for the previous four years. In 2005 the Foundation made 17 grants totaling $418,500. In 2006, the Foundation made 12 grants totaling $277,150. In 2007, the Foundation made 13 grants totaling $337,000.  In 2008 the Foundation made 12 grants totaling $338,522.

The Foundation's asset value varied over the last four years from $8.5 million in 2005, to $9 million in 2006, to $10.3 million in 2007, to $6.3 million in 2008.
