Mercatus Center
Government Accountability Project
Based on the Government Performance and Results Act passed in 1993, the project seeks to assist federal agencies’ efforts to produce greater public benefits at less cost. One of the key components of the program is an annual performance report scorecard evaluating results achieved by government agencies and reporting directly to the public. The Bush Administration has announced that it plans to use agency performance information to make its budget decisions for fiscal year (FY) 2003 and subsequent years.
